Did you know that most recruiters take about 10 to 20 seconds to discard a resume?
Every company gets hundreds of applications for a single job opening and most of the time getting the perfect candidate for the job is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Getting the job of your dreams isn’t something that will drop magically in front of your eyes. It needs patience, tens of applications and most of all preparation to rock that interview. However, to get to the interview stage you’ll need a solid resume that catches the recruiter’s attention.
When looking for a job there are many things that you are in control and one of them is your CV. At the time of writing this article I found about 25 different sites and very interesting designs online. I’ll save you some research time and give you 5 of the very best free CV designers you can use to create a great resume in no time.
First of all, as a job seeker you should have a LinkedIn profile by now that is why LinkedIn isn’t included in this list. If you don’t have your information there I suggest you to create one as soon as possible.
LinkedIn is the best social networking tool designed for professionals, if you are looking for a job start looking from there, companies around the world post hundreds of job opportunities every day.
HIPCV
HIPCV helps you to create a minimalist CV for free. The site has 12 similar templates and you can choose the color that fits you better.
The only downside is that you can’t add a picture to it but if you don’t need this then this shouldn’t be an issue. Otherwise the website is great and include features as: create unlimited resumes, import data straight from LinkedIn, embed the resume to a website and download it to PDF.

Completely Free

ResumUP
Create beautifully looking CVs with ResumUP. The site has a sleek interface and provides 5 types of customizable templates: simple text, infographic, JSON, ATS ready and clean & simple resume.
The most interesting template type of ResumUP is the infographic resume. If you are into design or want to give an extreme makeover to your current CV then I suggest to try it out. The infographic template is only available for an extra monthly fee.

Pricing
Free: access to Basic Text resume only.
$2 per month: Full access to any 2 templates of your choice.
$3 per month: Unlimited access to templates.

KickResume
You can find 7 great templates within KickResume. Perhaps the only issue would be that you can’t upload your information straight from LinkedIn. Besides that the tool works really well, you need to create an account first so that you don’t lose the CV data after exporting to PDF. I created mine in less than 10 minutes.
Pricing
Completely Free.
Visual CV
Visual CV has many amazing templates available, however all of these come with a high monthly price. Their platform is easy to use and it is possible to create your CV with their free template.
Pricing
Free: only 1 design available.
Professional $6 per month: Access to all designs, export as PDF, eliminates the “VisualCV” brand, tracks who viewed your CV.
Print Plan $18 per month: Access to 6 premium designs, and all of the professional package features.
CVmaker
CVmaker‘s interface is very similar to Kickresume. There is no option to upload your information from LinkedIn so you’ll have to input data yourself. It has 6 different types of similar templates and you can export it as PDF, HTML or TXT.
Pricing
Completely Free.
No worries if you don’t want to spend money on templates, take these options as inspiration to design your own CV.

Hello Esteban. On the ResumeUp review you wrote “to give a 360 degree makeover to your current CV”. If you make a 360 degree turn, it would place you on the very same spot. If you really want a change then you should give a turn in any other way. Keep on with the posts.

Thanks for your input, I changed it for a less philosophical expression 🙂 Cool last name by the way.
